The Thriving Futures Project

A new training program by Child Australia is looking to increase the number of children engaged in high quality early learning in the Pilbara. Focusing on Hedland and Newman, it will offer scholarships to people interested in entering or reinventing their career towards professional early childhood education.

CEO of Child Australia Tina Holtom says the narrative away from ‘babysitting’ needs to be changed by a new awareness campaign.

“COVID-19 has clearly demonstrated the importance of this ‘essential’ workforce and the critical role this sector continues to play in economic recovery,” said Ms Holtom.

“There has never been a greater time to be an early childhood educator.”
