We have developed two pathways for those wishing to pursue a career working with children in the early years but do not have qualifications or previous experience. These workforce ready options will help candidates build a skillset, experience and confidence in working with children.
Option 1: Build experience and confidence
Keen to get a taste for a career in Early Childhood Education and Care? Join The Academy and immerse yourself into:
- 8 FREE introductory learning modules
- Opportunity for work experience at a Pilbara Early Learning Centre
This will enable you to understand children’s learning and developmental needs while gaining a thorough understanding of the importance of the Educator role.
We will guide you through the journey with one-on-one mentoring and support.
There is no time limit to complete and we can tailor your learning journey to suit your individual circumstances.
Option 2: Be workforce ready to follow your passion
Fast track your way to career in Early Childhood Education and Care with FREE accredited learning units. Through The Academy we will provide you with:
- Access to 5 x FREE accredited learning units
- 50 hours work placement in an Early Learning Centre in the Pilbara
- Ongoing mentoring as you learn and undertake work placement
- Units completed can be credited to your Certificate III in ECEC
- Potential for future employment with Thriving Futures

Qualifications and experience
You do not need any qualifications or previous experience to enrol in The Academy.
Training / tuition fees
FREE – you will not need to pay any training or tuition fees.
To be eligible to participate in the program, you must be one of the following:
- Australian citizen
- Permanent resident
- Holder of a temporary resident or working visa. To check visa options, click here.
Note: We are unable to sponsor employee visas.
You will need to live in the Pilbara currently or be committed to relocating to the region.
Police Clearance and Working with Children Check
If you are successful in obtaining employment through Thriving Futures or are participating in The Academy, you will require a current Police Clearance and Working with Children Check.
Application forms can be obtained from your local Australia Post Outlet. You will be required to pay for these.
Option 1: This pathway is not accredited.
Option 2: All 5 learning units (outlined below) are accredited and you will receive documentation upon successful completion to confirm your participation.

|HLTFSE001||Follow basic food safety practices||Learn the skills and knowledge required to comply with personal hygiene, maintain food safety, contribute to cleanliness of food handling areas and dispose of food.|
|CHCECE056||Work effectively in children’s education and care||Learn the skills and knowledge required to work in a children’s education and care context using effective communication and knowledge of job roles, responsibilities and service procedures to complete daily work activities.|
|CHCECE030||Support inclusion and diversity||Learn skills and knowledge required to reflect on and understand the impact of own values and biases, demonstrate respect for inclusion and diversity, and support children’s understanding of inclusive principles and behaviours.|
- You will receive one-on-one mentoring with our professional mentors throughout the entire Academy program and as you undertake your Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
- There is the potential for employment in a participating child care centre in the Pilbara to enable you to work and earn while you learn.
