She’s a familiar face throughout Thriving Futures (you would have seen her in videos and posters!) but it’s time you knew her name! Nirasha joined Thriving Futures just 3 months after the program kicked off in 2020 and we recently celebrated her completing her Cert III in Early Childhood Education and Care!
Originally from Sri Lanka, Nirasha had worked in the Early Childhood Sector before moving to Australia.
“I always wanted to work with children. It is a rewarding experience [watching] children grow and develop the skills that they will use throughout their lifetime.”
So how did Nirasha find Thriving Futures and become part of the team at Treloar?
“I first heard of TF on Facebook!” said Nirasha. “And after reading all their information I realized that if I join them for a job it would be easier for me to do all my future studies with them.”
“When I started my first day I was so excited and happy because it was my dream job.”
“During my training period I got a lot of help from my team. They were very supportive. They never hesitated to teach me all the unknown things.”
Part of that support is Nirasha’s mentor Connie Borg, Child Australia Professional Practice Consultant. Based in Perth, Connie makes multiple trips to the Pilbara throughout the year to meet with Thriving Futures participants and ensure they feel supported in their learning journeys.
Connie describes Nirasha as “bright, bubbly and enthusiastic”.
“Nirasha is an outstanding Educator. [She] is very dedicated… has plenty of great ideas and her implementation of these ideas are excellent and beats expectations!”
Child Australia mentors go above and beyond to help Educators reach their full potential. Nirasha reflected on her most memorable moments with Thriving Futures so far – “I have so many memorable moments with TF. The most memorable was when I finished my Cert III and Connie came to our centre and celebrated with me.”
“Connie is the best, she believes in me and trusts me all the time.”
When asked what lay ahead for her, Nirasha says her sights are set on doing a Diploma. But first, she’s continuing to look forward to spending time with the children doing their favourite things – singing songs, reading stories and doing art.
Congratulations again Nirasha!
